September 25 - 29, 2017, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia -- The World Bank (WB) office in Ulaanbaatar in cooperation with the National Dispatching Center (NDC) of Mongolia hosted a week of meetings related to the WB sponsored project Mongolia Energy Sector Technical Assistance: SCADA Diagnosis and Upgrade Concept Preparation.  Included in the meetings was the technical workshop General SCADA Fundamentals (briefly illustrated in the video on the right) that was conducted by Savu C. September 14, 2017, San José, Costa Rica -- The National Control Center of Costa Rica (Centro Nacional de Control de Energía - CENCE) successfully completed today the Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), which was the last milestone of the project Adquisición de Dos Sistemas SCADA/EMS Principal y de Emergencia con Arquitectura en Espejo. In addition to witnessing the last stage of the SAT, Savu assisted the system engineers from CENCE to fine-tune the integration of the Real-Time QuickStab software with the new SCADA/EMS facilities

July 15 - 21, 2017, Chicago, IL -- On July 15, 2017, the Power Systems Engineering Research Center of the University of Illinois celebrated the combined birthdays of Professors Pete Sauer and George Gross with the POWER @140 Workshop. Savu, who has been friends with George and Pete for more than thirty years, was among the guests invited to this very special gathering. After the workshop, Savu attended the IEEE PES General Meeting 2017 as a co-chair of the IEEE PES Task Force on Real-Time Contingency Analysis which is sponsored by the Power System Operation & Control Centers Subcommittee. April 28, 2017, São Paulo, Brazil -- The Administración Nacional de Electricidad ANDE (National Electricity Administration) from Paraguay, together with the São Paulo, Brazil unit of GE-Alstom, successfully completed today the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of ANDE's new SCADA/EMS system. The system is now ready for shipment to Asunción, Paraguay, where it will be installed, field tested and commissioned later this year. August 2, 2016, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam -- The Ho Chi Minh City distribution company (EVNHCMC), together with GE-Alstom, from Jakarta, Indonesia, and Applied Technical Systems (ATS) Co. Ltd., from Hanoi, Vietnam, have successfully concluded the Site Acceptance Testing of the new SCADA/DMS of EVNHCMC. The project has been conducted on schedule and is immediately entering the provisional acceptance stage, followed by the warranty period. The system testing activities have been witnessed by Savu C. Savulescu in capacity of SCADA/DMS consultant to EVNHCMC

December 18, 2015, Guatemala City, Guatemala -- The Administrador del Mercado Mayorista de Guatemala AMM (Guatemala Bulk Electricity Market Operator) selected ECI to provide consulting services related with the New SCADA/EMS of AMM. The scope of work encompasses all the project phases, from reviewing the bidding documents and the bid evaluation methodology, to system implementation and acceptance testing. Just before Christmas, in the beautifully decorated Ciudad Muy Noble y Muy Leal de Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala., AMM and ECI kicked-off the project in a meeting that started with Savu's seminar Obsolescence in Utility Information Systems. What It Is and How to Delay It, encompassed useful  interactions between Savu and the AMM Project Team, and concluded with a visit to the existing Dispatching Center of AMM.

October 21, 2015, Hanoi, Vietnam -- Today, Savu C. Savulescu (ECI) shared the stage with Tran Anh Thai (Vietnam PRP Co., Ltd) during the Midterm Conference organized by Tangible International Corporation (TIC) and EVNNPT for the EVNNPT Stakeholders Working Group. Other technical speakers included Douglas Shuster (Emerging Markets Infrastructure LLC.) and Rabindra Chackraborty (Catalyst Business Solutions Corporation). October 2, 2015, San José, Costa Rica -- The National Control Center of Costa Rica (Centro Nacional de Control de Energía - CENCE) completed today an important milestone in the Adquisición de Dos Sistemas SCADA/EMS Principal y de Emergencia con Arquitectura en Espejo project: the successful conclusion of the Statement of Work (SOW) with ABB, Inc. In addition to the CENCE Project Team and the ABB representatives, the SOW meeting was attended by Savu C. Savulescu in capacity of SCADA/EMS Consultant. This important undertaking is entering now the fast lane of system design and implementation, which is expected to last for approximately fourteen months. Stay tuned!

June 22, 2015, New York, New York -- Savu C. Savulescu, CEO and Principal Consultant at Energy Consulting International, Inc. (ECI) has been subcontracted by Tangible International Corporation (TIC), a Vienna, VA based consulting company, to address various topics in the USAID TDA sponsored project Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission Company IT Infrastructure Roadmap. May 7, 2015, São Paulo, Brazil -- Savu Savulescu attended the Alstom Grid's Latin America Users Group 2015 meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil as a guest speaker. He delivered the presentation Obsolescence in Utility Information Systems. What it is and how to avoid it -- an abbreviated version of the workshop that ECI has been conducting for its clients for quite some time.

April 20, 2015, San José, Costa Rica -- The CENCE (Centro de Control de Energía) Project Team met in San Jose, Costa Rica with Savu on April 20-24 to address a number of key issues, and now the project is moving forward at full speed. February 6, 2015, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam -- As agreed originally by Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) and ECI, the second working visit included in the scope of consulting services provided by Savu C. Savulescu in conjunction with the SCADA/DMS replacement project took place in HCMC on February 5 – 6, 2015 on the 7th floor of the Green Building. January 12, 2015, San José, Costa Rica -- The Control Center upgrade project (Adquisición de Dos Sistemas SCADA/EMS para el Centro Nacional de Control de Energía de Costa Rica Proyecto Nuevo Centro de Control de Energía) in San José, Costa Rica entered a new phase.
